Created in Mendocino while Allen was apprenticing with prominent sculptor Richard Yaski, Allen created this composition from various pieces of scrap steel welded onto a section of H-Beam found in Yaski’s ‘boneyard.’ This early work sparked an interest in hunting through scrap steel yards to reuse, restore, and recycle something once industrial into a sculpture with visual appeal and interest
